CPLI Empowers Environmental Consciousness and Community Well-being through Innovative "Wian Tian with Tree" Ritual

CP Leadership Institute (CPLI) collaborated with the Tree for Dhamma Foundation to organize a unique "Wian Tian with Tree" ritual or candlelight procession as a harmonious blend of environmental consciousness and spiritual reverence on Visakha Bucha Day at Wat Khao Wong, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand. The ritual gathered approximately 200 participants who are CPLI employees, teachers and students from Ban Khao Wong School to engage in a meaningful act of devotion while embracing environmental responsibility. Replacing the traditional use of candles and incense with seedlings reduces air pollution and promotes environmental preservation.

These seedlings had been nurtured from a previous initiative, "Transforming Used Plastic Cups into Seedling Nurseries," held in March 2024. Participants of the CP Potential Leaders Development Program (PLP) transformed discarded plastic beverage cups into seedbeds for cultivating a variety of vegetables. With the support of CPP partners, these seedlings were carefully nurtured until they were ready to be used in the "Wian Tian with Tree" ritual.

Each participant received a seedling to take home. This act not only fostered a sense of spiritual connection but also contributed to food security, promoted the production and consumption of pesticide-free produce, and alleviated financial burdens for schools and families.
