A Series of Paintings in Honor of King Rama X

Professor Somsak Raksuwan

In this series of paintings honoring King Rama X, C.P. Group pays homage to the King’s pledge to the nation and the people by conveying continuity of his accession to the throne where His Majesty the King proclaimed that "we will continue to preserve and build on and rule the land with righteousness for the benefit of the people's happiness forever.” These words reflect the science of kingship which His Majesty King Rama X inherited and his continuance of the Royal Projects initiated by the late King Rama IX to alleviate suffering and improve happiness for Thai people so that they can lead a better life, leading to a prosperous, advanced, strong, and modern country.

C.P. Group continues to participate in the King’s own Royal Projects as well as those he inherited from King Rama IX. These include such projects as the Suan Chitralada Project where C.P. Group donated a rice mill with modern technology and a dairy factory. Other projects initiated by King Rama X include the Un Ai Rak Project involving the co-development of canals; Royal Kitchen Project; and Royal Volunteer Project. Moreover C.P. Group also started new initiatives such as establishing a factory to manufacture medical masks; setting up of modern field hospitals; and a smart city project that will promote Bangkok, the nation's capital, to become one of the world’s most modern metropolises. Additional ventures include the high speed rail project connecting the Eastern Special Development Zone Project or Eastern Economic Corridor(EEC); contemporary agricultural project or Mega Farm, a large cultivating farm that uses modern technology; and advanced ready-to-eat food factories that have a closed system production processing using state-of-the-art technology. All these reflect the era of King Rama X’s reign where the country has continued to develop and become more modern along with the preservation of valuable elements of society inherited from King Rama IX.
