A Series of Paintings in Honor of King Rama IX
Professor Somsak Raksuwan
This series of paintings honoring His Majesty King Rama IX was created to express gratitude to King Rama IX and C.P. Group’s intention to pay homage to the late King, who was a great monarch and a role model adhering to “Tosaphit Ratchatham” (Virtues of the King). Loving and caring for his subjects as if they were his own children and performing royal duties that spanned throughout his 70-year reign, he kept the nation peaceful and strong where the population lived happily. As the first royal decree, King Rama IX pledged that he would “reign with righteousness for the benefit and happiness of the Siamese people.” This has been evident for both Thais and the world.
The late King graciously bestowed valuable concepts and theories which are regarded as a legacy to all Thai people to live a life of self-sufficiency and sustainability under the philosophy of Sufficiency Economy coupled with new agricultural theories and approaches.
As a result of King Rama IX’s great contributions to the nation and the people, C.P. Group was established and managed to prosper in Thailand from its Chia Tai origins to this very day. Under the benevolent umbrella King Rama IX’s reign, C.P. Group is grateful and is therefore determined to follow in his footsteps by upholding him as a model for a way of living and doing business in agriculture, industry and food so that Thai people can enjoy plentiful nutrition. In this respect, C.P Group adheres to the philosophy of "3 Benefits" throughout its operations, which puts the benefits of the nation and the people before the benefits of the organization, in the same way King Rama IX has done for the country.
