About the Artist
Professor Dhepsiri Sooksopa
Professor Dhepsiri Sooksopa was born on March 6, 1943, and is a native of Sukhothai province. He attended the Arts and Crafts School and subsequently graduated from Silpakorn University with a Bachelor's degree from the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts. He was named National Artist of Literature 2017.
He started creating literary works by telling stories to children and adults living in rural villages in the north choosing stories from Thai and international fairy tales as well as ones that he created. He had a fun, colorful, and engaging way of telling stories earning him the nickname of “Story Teller.” At the same time, he wrote for a regular column on art for children, teachers, and also wrote short stories for magazines.
His literary portfolio includes novels, documentaries, children's literature, and famous poems. Professor Dephsiri also has artistic talents in the field of painting and performing arts (dancing). He brings together these talents from both fields to create literary works as well as producing educational documentaries about the art of drawing and also provided a large number of illustrations for outstanding literary works.
