CPLI Nurtures New-Generation Leaders Who Care for the World by Adhering to ESG Principles and Joining Hands with PLP’s Participants in the "PLP Grow Greens in Cups" Activity, Collectively Repurposing Over 250 Disposable Plastic Beverage Cups to Cultivate Vegetable and Perennial Tree Seeds, Replacing Plastic Pots and Nursery Bags
Charoen Pokphand Leadership Institute (CPLI) invited participants of the CP Potential Leaders Development Program (PLP) to join the "PLP Grow Greens in Cups" activity, a positive initiative under the strategic project "CPLI PLANT FOR THE FUTURE)." The activity involved repurposing used beverage cups as nursery bags or plastic pots. The PLP participants (Tao Kae Lek) participated in puncturing holes at the bottom of the plastic cups for drainage, mixing potting soil, scooping soil into the cups, placing in 4-5 vegetable or perennial tree seeds per cup, covering the seeds with soil, watering the soil until moist, and then nurturing the seedlings until they grow before delivering them to the community as safe food for household consumption or planting them in the ground to increase green spaces.
CPLI places importance on nurturing new-generation leaders alongside caring for the environment, society, governance (ESG), and sustainable development. It also recognizes the significance of instilling ESG principles in the younger generations, who will be a vital force in driving the organization and Thai society in the future. Therefore, CPLI organized the "PLP Grow Greens in Cups" activity to provide knowledge, pass on commitments, and take real actions to collectively create a sustainable economy, society, and environment.
Moreover, the "PLP Grow Greens in Cups" activity aligns with the Charoen Pokphand Group's strategic plans and sustainable development goals, which aim for climate resilience and the circular economy. These goals encompass efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, both from within the organization's operations and within the supply chain, aiming to become a net-zero carbon dioxide emissions organization by 2030.
CPLI initiated the "CPLI Cares for the World" project for the first time in 2020, to raise awareness among stakeholders to participate in environmental conservation through various means, such as reducing plastic usage, planting trees, separating waste, saving energy or reducing energy consumption, and exchanging or sharing knowledge to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The project also aims to strengthen relationships, pass on commitment, and encourage the development of the organization towards sustainability in the future.
