Blossom of Prosperity and Eternity
Blossom of Prosperity and Eternity
Professor Somsak Raksuwan
Technique : Oil on canvas
Size : 180 x 270 cm
According to the artist, the painting "Blossom of Prosperity and Eternity" was inspired from his first visit to the C.P. Leadership Institute where he saw many Kalapapruek trees (Cassia Bakeriana, also known as the pink shower tree) planted at the institute, blooming beautifully all over in white and pink. The Kalapapruek tree is considered one of the nine auspicious plants that symbolize eternal prosperity. The aim of this painting is therefore not to only impress viewers with the beauty of the Kalapapruek flower, but also to communicate that the Kalapapruek tree is more than just a “lucky” tree because the word “Kalapapruek” means flora or plants that are regarded as auspicious. It is there an auspicious tree befitting the painting’s name “Blossom of Prosperity and Eternity."
Professor Somsak further explained that this painting conveys an additional message. In planting the Kalapapruek tree, a prosperous tree, at the institute, he wanted C.P. Group to prosper forever just like the auspicious tree. This painting reflects C.P. Group’s care for the environment which is located near Khao Yai, a vast area of greenery and natural environment. This effort must preserve not only the environment within the institute but also in the vicinity of the Khao Yai environment and make it flourish as much as possible. Even though a building has been constructed here, C.P. Group does not destroy the environment and still upholds its values in love and care for the environment and the world.
