Technique: Sculpture
This sculpture set consists of two works of art, the first one on the left side is titled “Fish in the Waters, Rice in the Fields” while the one on the right is called “Abundance.”
The sculpture titled “Abundance” focuses on a fish that has a simple shape but reflects abundance because it is pregnant and will give birth to many offspring that will grow and multiply. The special characteristics of this fish are its simplicity and its rotund form complete with tail, fins, and glass marble eyes that look alive. The female fish is surrounded by her offspring swimming around all over the place giving a sense of turmoil and full of life. The number of fish, luminosity, saturation, and the roundness of the pregnant mother fish who will soon give birth to more offspring that will one day multiply with another generation of fish, all combine to represent abundance.
