CPLI Expands on Its Success, Piloting the Carbon Hero Activity to Ignite the Power of New-Generation Leaders in Building a Low Carbon School for Sustainability

The CP Leadership Institute (CPLI) is advancing the success of the Silver Award success at the “LESS Friendship Awards” by expanding it to an educational institution for the first time. On May 22, CPLI organized a tree carbon sequestration assessment activity titled Carbon Hero: Secret Detectives Cracking the Carbon Code at Chearavanont Uthit 1 School. Led by CPLI personnel, the on-site activity involved 19 teachers and 70 junior high school students (Grades 7-9) to survey 303 trees across the 29-rai school campus. The primary goal was to pass on the DNA of environmental responsibility and nurture the youth to grow into eco-conscious leaders ready to drive society toward sustainability.

A standout feature of this activity was providing the opportunity for 15 CPLI employees to take on the role of Carbon Mentors. They offered close guidance to students as they executed their Spot-Collect-Decode missions through an active learning process. The participants engaged in intensive theoretical and practical education, integrating out-of-classroom science and mathematics (STEM) skills. This included using tree measurement tools, recording data, and calculating statistics to evaluate the actual greenhouse gas reductions sequestered by the trees. Furthermore, CPLI created a Tree Registry Book for the school and awarded certificates of pride to all the junior detectives. Consequently, this activity served as a vital platform to shift mindsets and inspire CPLI personnel to realize that strong leadership entails transferring knowledge, being a good role model, and empowering others to create positive environmental change, which genuinely reflects self-development into public-minded leaders.

This initiative serves as a pilot project that elevates the educational institution's image and comprehensively prepares it to transition into a Low Carbon School in the future. CPLI firmly believes that instilling an awareness of global warming and making it a relatable issue through hands-on action today will be the starting point for building a network of future leaders. These individuals are prepared to grow into mighty trees, safeguarding the environment and driving this world toward lasting sustainability.
